- The "Draft" feature from previous versions has been discontinued. Its functionality has been superseded by the History tracking and advanced tab management systems.
- Alt Gr hotkeys utilized in earlier versions have been removed for compatibility reasons, as they caused conflicts in certain localized language configurations. If keyboard shortcuts continue to conflict on your system, they can be deactivated here.
- Performance may degrade when handling exceptionally large text files due to limitations of the underlying text editing component. The software will display an informative notice when this occurs.
- Document History is only accessible during the current runtime session. The history data is permanently cleared upon closing the application.
- The Info panel displays the current memory footprint of the application. If many Tab Restore entries accumulate automatically in the background after closing various tabs, memory usage may increase. Clearing the Tab Restore history can reduce memory usage; however, consider whether you need to save any underlying data before doing so.
- The Export/Import feature only packages configuration items that can be safely transferred across different system environments. For instance, local printer configurations are excluded from the backup file.
- Maintaining the user password for encrypted text segments is the sole responsibility of the user. Lost passwords cannot be recovered or reset under any circumstances.
- Certain functions within the Settings panel (Reset All, Upgrade, and Import) are unavailable if any open tab contains unsaved text, or if multiple instances of the software are running (which can occur in multi-instance mode). When executing these actions, the application will terminate after displaying an appropriate prompt so that changes can take effect. The program must then be restarted manually. For safety reasons, Black NotePad cannot perform an automatic restart when configured in Single Instance mode.
- Hex View and the CSV Viewer yield accurate, properly aligned visual results only when a monospaced font is selected.
- The "Open As" feature is operational only if the text file being opened does not contain a Byte Order Mark (BOM). If a BOM is present, the encoding is determined by the BOM. You can verify the presence of a BOM via the "Info" menu.
- The software does not require installation, so it does not appear in the system's list of installed applications. To remove it, close the software and delete the blacknotepad.exe file from your computer. Restarting the system afterward is recommended.
- If the configuration settings file becomes corrupted, an error message may be displayed during startup. To resolve this, delete the application's corresponding subfolder located inside the c:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\WinTools.Info folder.
- You can execute the software in either single-instance or multi-instance mode (restricting operations to a single window or allowing multiple separate windows). It runs in single-instance mode by default.
